COMMISSIONS

I am available to carry out commissions for a variety of pieces, these can range from large commissions

such as that below to smaller pieces including pet portraits.

Below are some answers to the questions I am always asked regarding commissions, have a read and if you require any further information then please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

Sizes

I create commissions in two sizes and these are approximately A3 size which fits into a 20”x16” mount and an approximate size of A4 which fits inside a 10”x12” mount. Each mount is a standard size allowing you to purchase a standard sized frame rather than the added expense of framing.

Subjects

I am happy to be commissioned to create almost any subject. The only subject that I do not like to create are portraits of people. As you may have seen from my work or website, I have created a great variety of different subjects. I have been commissioned to draw Land Rovers, Hondas, Motorbikes, Camper Vans, Jaguar cars and a Jaguar in a tree, together with dozens of dogs, cats, horses and a racing pigeon.

Cost

For the smaller 10”x12” size prices start at £140. For the larger 20”x16” size prices start at £240. The above prices would only increase due to the amount of work involved. For example a commission with a full background may increase the cost.

Combining Photos

I will often be asked to create a commission with more than one subject, for example when people have two or three pets and they would like them in one commission. Yes I can combine multiple photos into one commission. All that I ask is that the photos are taken from the same angle so that a realistic commission can be produced. Also if I could have at least one photo of your pets together simply so that I can accurately gauge any size difference.

Copyright

In most cases there will not be any copyright issues with your commission. If it’s your pet which you have taken a photo of then there are no concerns whatsoever. Where problems can arise is if you commission me to create something generic. For example you ask me to create a bee or an elephant, again if it’s from a photograph that you have taken then there is no issue. What we cannot do is search on google, find a photo and use that. I subscribe to a website called Shutterstock, photographers upload their photos and I am able to obtain the copyright to use that photo. So you may wish to commission a highland cow, you tell me what you are hoping the end result will look like, I search Shutterstock and find some photos that I think would work, we agree which one, I obtain the copyright and then create your commission.

Prints

In some cases we may like to create prints from your commission. This is not something we do for every commission, because other people may not want a print of your cocker-poo on their wall. However they do like to have prints for example, of vintage cars, Land Rovers, motorbikes or horses. This is something that we will discuss with you in the beginning. On some commissions I may end up spending hundreds of hours and if the option to create prints is not available then we may need to increase the initial price to reflect this.
